I'm Brent Maudlin, and I've been helping individuals, families, and businesses protect what matters most since opening my State Farm agency in Bedford, Indiana, in September 2008.

Insurance has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. Growing up, my dad worked in life insurance and helped families prepare financially for the unexpected. I watched him build meaningful relationships with customers and become someone people in our community knew and trusted. I admired those connections, and today, I'm grateful to have the opportunity to follow a similar path.

Now in my 19th year as a State Farm agent, I still believe the most rewarding part of this business is the people.

Why does protecting families matter so much to me?

When I was in middle school, our family home was destroyed by a fire. My brother was injured, and we lost nearly everything we owned. I remember having nothing but the clothes I was wearing.

Thankfully, my brother recovered, and over time, our belongings were replaced. But I've never forgotten what it felt like to experience that kind of loss.

That experience continues to shape how I approach insurance today.

When someone calls our office with a claim, I want our team to remember that while it might be the fifth claim-related call we've received that day, it may be the only claim that customer has ever experienced. And to them, it's incredibly important.

Insurance isn't just about policies and payments. It's about helping people prepare for the unexpected and being there to help when life doesn't go according to plan.

What makes our Bedford State Farm office different?

I like to say that we speak fluent insurance.

Everyone has an area of expertise. Bakers know how to bake. Plumbers know how to plumb. Carpenters know how to build. Insurance happens to be ours.

But knowing insurance is only half the job. The other half is listening.

Our team brings more than 60 years of combined insurance experience to the table. We take time to get to know our customers, understand their concerns, explain their options, and help them make informed decisions that fit their needs and budgets.

We help with auto, home, renters, business, life, and disability insurance, along with coverage for motorcycles, boats, campers, ATVs, and other vehicles.

I'm especially passionate about helping families understand liability protection, life insurance, and the financial consequences of unexpected events. Our focus isn't simply on providing a quote. It's on helping customers understand their coverage, recognize potential risks, and make thoughtful decisions about protecting what they've worked hard to build and the people who depend on them.

I hold the Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU®) and ChFC® professional designations, reflecting my commitment to continued education and helping customers understand their insurance and financial protection options.

And unlike dealing with an unfamiliar voice every time you call an 800 number, our goal is to build lasting relationships with the people we serve.

We don't just want an application. We want a relationship.

What does being a good neighbor mean to me?

Bedford and Lawrence County aren't just where I do business. They're home.

Over the years, I've had the privilege of serving as president of the Lawrence County Community Foundation board and participating in the Bedford Lions Club. Through the Lions Club, I've enjoyed supporting projects such as vision screenings for local elementary school students and our office has also created community food drives benefiting Bertha's Mission.

Our office also supports the Bedford Parks Department's plastic lid recycling project, being a drop of point collecting materials that can be turned into picnic tables for local parks.

Community involvement matters to me because the people we help at our office are the same people we see at the grocery store, at church, at school events, and throughout town.

They're not just customers. They're our neighbors.
